Late Mr. Caragianis

Many Years At Smelters
Mr. John Nicholas Caragianis, who died in Pirie Hospital, was born at Livisi, Greece, in 1895. Arriving in Perth in 1913, he spent two years in Western Australia, and then returned to his homeland. Seven years later he decided once more to make his home in Australia.
After a brief stay in Perth Mr. Caragianis came to Pirie in 1922 and entered the employment of Broken Hill Associated Smelters. He started work in the refinery, later transferring to the D. and L. plant, where he was employed at the time he entered hospital.
In 1924 he married Miss Despina Taouti at St. Paul’s Church, Pirie.
With the widow are left one son, Mr. Andrew Caragianis, and two daughters, Misses Chrisanthy and Georgina Caragianis. There is one brother, Mr. Stamatis Caragianis, ofPerth.
After a service in Greek Orthodox Church interment took place in Pirie Cemetery. Pallbearers were Messrs. J. Coupe, W. B. Mackay (representingCeres Lodge of Independent Order of Odd fellows), M. Karagianis, G. Keldoulis, L. Tsangaris, and P. Athanasos.
