Olga Bachali

Olga Bachali (nee Barbathi)

was born in Lemnos in 1888

to Antonios  and Kadro.

After the sudden death of her father

she married Angelo Bachali in Alexandria.

The couple moved to Australia

and were blessed with three children:

Athena, Arthur and Constantinos.

Olga found it hard to adjust adjust to her country way life in Australia.

She suffered with multiple illnesses and eventually her mother, Kadro,

came to Australia from Alexandria, Egypt, to help her look after her and her children.

Olga sadly passed away on 18 Sep 1925.

She is buried in Wagga Wagga Monumental Cemetery



The funeral of the late Mrs. Olga Bachali, wife of Mr. A. Bachali, of the Olympic Orchard, Bomen, who died at the age of 37 years, at her residence, after a long illness, on Friday morning, took place on Saturday. She leaves a widower and three children, Althena (11), Arthur (9), and Constance (7). Her mother, Mrs. Bearbade, also survives the deceased, who was born in Greece, was married in Egypt, and came to Australia 12 years ago. She had been a resident of Bomen for eight years. The cortege, which left the residence for the interment in the Church of England portion of the Wagga Cemetery, was a long one. The Rev. C. T. Debenham officiated at the graveside, and the bearers were Messrs. S. Psaltis, Con Centos, S. Apostle, Georee Tsackalos, Vesaly Antis, and George Spirakis. The chief mourners at the graveside were the widower, children, and- mother. The mortuary arrangements were carried out by J. C. M’Donald, of Wagga.
